Austin Museum of Art - Laguna Gloria is one of the city's outstanding public treasures. Laguna Gloria features 12 acres of beautiful Central Texas parkland, including a mile of Lake Austin shoreline. Centrally located, off MoPac and 35th Street, Laguna Gloria is home to an Italianate-style villa built in 1916 by Clara Driscoll, best known for saving the Alamo from destruction in 1903.

The villa and grounds have recently been restored to their original splendor. Complete with extensive, historically inspired landscaping, the original living, parlor, dining and garden rooms of the villa are available for use complete with all the necessities of modern convenience: a catering kitchen, elevator and expanded restroom facilities. The Driscoll Villa makes a spectacular backdrop for your special event.

Laguna Gloria features many beautiful locations for outdoor wedding ceremonies and other events:

  • The Amphitheater
The waterfront fieldstone-terraced Amphitheater is shaded by magnificent oaks and elms and cooled by refreshing breezes off the lagoon. This area has been a delightful setting for weddings, musical events, film festivals, receptions, picnics, and more.
  • Front Oval Lawn with Fountain
With the Villa as your backdrop, the Front Lawn makes a spectacular location for your event. The Front Lawn is centrally located between the Amphitheater and the Sunken Garden and features a beautiful fountain.
  • Garden of the Four Seasons
A beautiful lawn shaded by ancient oak trees, featuring statues acquired in Venice, Italy. This area is a perfect for small dinner parties, cocktail receptions, buffet stations, additional guest seating and wedding ceremonies.
  • The Temple of Love
An historical replication of a classic gazebo built for Clara Driscoll sited at the original entrance to Laguna Gloria. A truly beautiful walk and a gorgeous area that is excellent for standing ceremonies as well as family, engagement and bridal portraits.

This beloved site is listed on city, state, and national registries of historic places, and is an official project of Save America's Treasures.

Your use of Laguna Gloria is limited only by your imagination, and we invite you to join us to view the grounds and consider the possibilities. We take great pride in our historic venue and the high quality of service we provide.
