Marc Brown & Digitalegacy
Where did Digitalegacy come from?
After graduating from UT with a Journalism degree and a photography emphasis,
I attempted the traditional corporate route and although it had it’s
moments it was definitely a world based on boundaries and restrictions.
Then
about eight years ago, a dear friend had me shoot her wedding in Hawaii
on a whim, and I was immediately hooked. It’s really that simple.
Notice I didn’t specify whether I shot still images or video? Well
that kind of plays into my philosophy on boundaries and restrictions...in
a creative world they just don’t fit.
I love the traits of both still imagery and video. Both mediums offer
a unique perspective and bring something special to any event. For wedding
clients, my goal is to give your day back to you, allowing you to re-live
the emotions that you experienced (often in a blur) on this once-in-a-lifetime
day. In addition to the obvious technical skill set necessary to capture
an image, I believe following mantras are essential to event coverage:
 |
- Let it happen naturally.
Every event is different and should be allowed to unfold in its
own organic way. Forced moments look forced. Natural moments look
natural.
- Anticipation is key.
Keeping the first mantra in mind, one’s ability to anticipate
when a moment will take place is the key to ensuring those once
in a lifetime moments are properly documented.
- Enjoy the experience.
If a client is genuinely having fun it will be evident and contagious.
A non-intrusive, journalistic approach ensures that true joy will
be allowed to shine through.

Old photos and home movies are my inspiration. I love thinking about
what it must have been like at the exact moment a picture was taken. My
goal is capture the essence of a simple moment in time and preserve it
with the idea that future generations will be inspired by it.
What else should you know? My photography has been published in the Austin
American Statesman, Austin Monthly, and West Austin News. I am the recipient
of three Aegis Awards for excellence in video and film production for
wedding coverage.
